Run Clubs in Kathmandu 2026: Every Weekly Run, Day by Day
September 18, 2026 · Kata Jaam? Team
Kathmandu runs before the city wakes up. On a Saturday at 6 AM you can find a group jogging out of a café in Patan, another circling Swoyambhu, and a third leaving Naxal. Most of them started in the last year or two. Nearly all of them are free to join, organised on Instagram, and happy to take a beginner.
This guide lists the weekly runs we know about, day by day, and the races coming up this autumn. Every line comes from runs listed on Kata Jaam?, where you can see this week's runs on one page: [Running in Nepal](/events/running).
> Routes and meeting points change from week to week. Before you set an alarm, check the club's latest Instagram post. The handle is next to each club below.
How many runs are there?
We listed 5 runs in June, 8 in July, 19 in August and 36 in September (as of the 18th). Those are the runs listed on Kata Jaam?, not a count of every run in the valley, and the jump partly reflects how many clubs we now follow. Still, you can now run with a group on four days of the week without leaving the Ring Road, which was not true a year ago.
Every week, day by day
Monday
- Temple Run (@templerun.np): 6 AM at Salesberry Tower, Maharajgunj. In the club's own words: "Free and open for all. No registration needed." One of the longest-running weekly runs in the city. It also ran a 5K fundraiser at KU School of Management in August.
- Moxy Madness Run (@moxymadness.chasethecity): 7:30 PM, one of the few evening runs. The meeting point is posted each week. "Mondays hit different when you run into them."
Thursday
- Centauro Run Club, Thursday Wellness Run (@centauro.run.club): meet at 6 AM, warm-up at 6:15, run at 6:30. It was last listed at Chhatrapati Party Palace, Dhobichaur. Centauro also puts on one-off themed runs: a 3K Sari Run for Teej and Sunset Strides, an evening run in Kupondole.
Friday (night runs)
- Peak Runners Club (@peakrunnersclub): Friday-night runs from Bikers Cafe, Naxal, followed by post-run socials. The club turned one in July.
Saturday
Saturday is the main running day. Pick your side of the valley:
- TFM Crew (Train For The Mountains), Temple Run long-run series (@thetfmcrew): around 6 AM from Yala Garden Cafe & Restro, Patan. It's on run #20, and in September it is a long-run build towards the Kathmandu Marathon, with routes out to Godawari and through Pulchowk and Jhamsikhel. Earlier editions offered 5K and 10K.
- DORJE Run Club (@dorje_rc): 6 AM around Swoyambhu. The recent "Kora Loop" is a 2.3 km loop you repeat, so you choose your distance (3 loops is 6.9 km, 4 is 9.2 km). It ends with coffee and socials, and places have lately been limited.
- The Good Company, Saturday Company Run (@goodcompany.ktm): 6:30 AM from Samye Garden, Swoyambhu. About 7 km at an easy pace with some up- and downhill. Beginner-friendly: "run, coffee, social, chill".
- Nepex Run Club (@nepex.rc): 6:15 AM, Narayanchaur, Naxal. It's back every Saturday after a pause.
- Astra Fit Club, Project: Temple Run (@astra.fit.club): 6:10 AM from Mi:Loco Cafe, Bhajya Pukhu, Bhaktapur. About 8 km at an easy pace, beginner-friendly. It's past its 70th edition.
- Motion BNP (@motion.bnp): 6 AM in Banepa, "run at your own pace", with a 10K community run on week 10.
Sunday
- PACELAB (@pacelabhq): 6 AM from CaffeOphilia, Paknajol. Capped at 50 runners, first come first served.
Once a month or so
- RT100 Run Club, Women's Night Run (@rt100.runclub): an evening run for women around Swoyambhu. Its one-year anniversary run in August was the twelfth.
- Kathmandu Night Run (@kathmandunightrun): full-moon night runs, such as Bouddha to Gokarneswor through forest trail and temples.
- Girls Walk Nepal (@girlswalk_nepal): not a run but a Saturday-morning walk-and-games meetup for women in Narayanchaur. A gentle way in.
Outside the valley
- Pokhara: Tvara Run Club (@tvara.runclub) runs from Lakeside and hosts night "run and rave" events.
- Dharan: Eastern Pacers (@easternpacers), Saturdays at 7 AM. It's past its 40th run.
- Butwal: Butwal Run Club (@butwalrunclub), Sunday social runs from 5:30 AM.
Races coming up (autumn 2026)
- Temple Trails Kathmandu, Sat 26 Sep. Race #9 of the RunUKU trail series, 15K and 30K.
- End of Summer Run 2026, Sat 26 Sep, 6 AM, Narayanchaur. A 5.5 km fun run by Z Runners and Free Fun Treks.
- Run for Rasuwa, Sat 26 Sep, 6 AM, Lisara Reception, Naxal. A 5K charity run for flood-affected communities in Rasuwa.
- 18th Kathmandu Marathon, Sat 10 Oct, from Dasharath Rangasala. It's the valley's big road race, and half the Saturday clubs above are training for it.
This month's runs also included a run of flood-relief charity runs: Trailmandu's 10K trail run at Swayambhu, Jeevan Vigyan Youth's 5K/10K at Dasharath Stadium, F1 Run Club's run for families affected by the floods, and college-organised 5Ks at Herald College, Presidential Graduate School and Fishtail Mountain College. The dates for the next ones are on the running page.
If it's your first time
- Pick an "easy pace" run. The Good Company, Astra, Temple Run and DORJE all say outright that every pace is welcome.
- Go early, and bring a light layer. The start is usually at 6 AM, and a Saturday run ends around 7:30 with coffee.
- Check the club's latest post the night before. Meeting points move, and some runs cap numbers.
- Evening option: if 6 AM will never happen, try Moxy Madness on Monday or Peak Runners on Friday night.
