Question 1

Are tech meetups in Kathmandu free to attend?

Accepted Answer

Most community meetups — GDG Kathmandu's DevFest talks, Python Nepal sessions, JavaScript and Flutter user groups, and Women in Tech gatherings — are free, RSVP-only events, often hosted at spaces like the offices of local product companies, co-working hubs, or university auditoriums. A handful of flagship conferences (PyCon Nepal, larger startup summits) charge a modest ticket that covers venue, food and swag. Each listing here shows the price, so you'll know before you go.

Question 2

Which tech events in Kathmandu are recurring?

Accepted Answer

Several run on a predictable cadence. DevFest lands once a year around late November via GDG Kathmandu; PyCon Nepal is an annual multi-day conference; Startup Grind Kathmandu hosts monthly fireside chats with founders; and language and framework user groups (Python, JavaScript, Flutter, Kotlin) meet roughly monthly. Hack Fest and hackathons cluster around university fests and national IT weeks. Follow this page or the app to catch the next date for each.

Question 3

How do I register for a hackathon in Kathmandu?

Accepted Answer

Hackathons usually open registration one to four weeks ahead and cap team sizes at three to five people. Tap any hackathon listed here to reach its official registration form or ticketing link — most collect your team name, members and project idea up front. Come with a rough idea, a laptop, and be ready for an overnight or weekend-long build; the best ones end with demos in front of judges and mentors.

Question 4

Who should come to Kathmandu's tech meetups?

Accepted Answer

Developers, designers, students, and first-time founders all show up. Meetups are the fastest way to meet the people building Nepal's product and startup scene — you don't need to be an expert, and newcomers are welcome. If you're job-hunting, learning to code, or validating a startup idea, these rooms are where the connections happen.
