For event organizers
List your event in Nepal, free
What a listing gives you
- A page Google ranks. Every event gets its own page on katajaam.com with structured event data, so it shows up when people search your event name, the venue, or “events in Kathmandu this weekend”. See this weekend's list — that is what your event sits in.
- A place in the app. Home rails, Explore, the map, search, and the scenes people follow (comedy, live music, screenings, markets…). People who follow your scene hear about your event the week it is listed.
- Everyone who saved it, in one message. “Interested” is one tap in the app. When you post an update — doors moved, support act added, cancelled — it reaches all of them by push, or by email when they have no app.
- An event chat and crews. People ask questions on your event page and find others to go with. You can read and reply as the organizer.
- Free RSVPs, 0 % tickets. A real guest list with your own questions and QR check-in (how RSVPs work), or ticket sales where you keep face value (how ticketing works).
- Numbers you can act on. How many people saw, opened and engaged with the event, app vs web, and where they saw it.
How to list an event
- 1
Sign in to the organizer portal
organizer.katajaam.com — Google sign-in or email. Add your Instagram handle so every event credits you and the weekly post tags you.
- 2
Add the event
Drop the poster and Kata Jaam fills the form from it, or paste the Instagram post link. Check the date, the venue and whether it is free or ticketed.
- 3
Turn on what you need
Free RSVPs with your own questions, ticket types at 0 % commission, or nothing at all — a plain listing with your ticket link is fine.
- 4
Publish
A person checks it, usually the same day. You get an email when it is live, with the link to share.
- 5
Reach the people going
Post an update once and it reaches everyone who saved or RSVP'd (push, or email when they have no app), every crew going together, and pins in the event chat.
Start in the organizer portal — it takes a few minutes on a phone.
Already on Kata Jaam? Claim it
Kata Jaam lists events that are announced publicly around Kathmandu — on Instagram, on ticketing sites, on venue pages — before the organizer has ever heard of us, because a listing nobody added is the only way the city sees everything that is on. Every one of those pages credits the organizer by name with a link to their Instagram, and any page can be taken down from the page itself, with no account and no DM.
If that is your event, claim it: open the page and tap “Are you the organizer? Claim this event”, or sign in to the portal and claim by your Instagram handle. Claiming moves the event into your account with everything it has earned — the people interested, the chat, the reach numbers — and it stays live throughout.
What gets approved
A person looks at every listing before it goes live. The bar is simple: a real event, at a real time, that people can turn up to.
Listed
- Gigs, concerts, DJ nights, open mics, comedy, theatre, screenings and watch parties.
- Markets, expos, food festivals, exhibitions, launches, workshops and classes with a date.
- Tournaments, runs, hikes with a meeting time, community meetups, tech events.
- Weekly and monthly series — list it once as a series and every night is created for you.
- Online events with a join link, and events whose venue or date is still to be announced.
Not listed
- Standing offers: happy hours, brunch menus, “bookings open”, packages, promotions with no date.
- Anything already on the site under another name — duplicates are merged, not doubled.
After it is live
- Share the link. Your event page works for people with and without the app. Put it in your bio, your stories, your WhatsApp groups — see how to promote an event in Kathmandu.
- Watch the numbers. The portal shows reached → opened → engaged, split app and web, with a breakdown of where people saw it.
- Boost when it matters. A featured weekend on Home, an Instagram spotlight with you tagged, or the promo popup. Priced per placement — see pricing.
