Best Live Music Venues in Kathmandu (2026 Guide)

April 15, 2026 ยท Kata Jaam? Team

Kathmandu's live music scene is one of the richest in South Asia โ€” yet most of it is hidden behind word-of-mouth, Instagram stories, and Facebook events. We built Kata Jaam? to fix that. Here are the venues we think every music lover in Kathmandu should know.

House of Music (Thamel)

One of the city's most active live stages, hosting local rock, jazz, and fusion acts throughout the week. Consistent sound quality, fair pricing, and a packed crowd on weekends.

Moksh (Jhamsikhel)

A staple of the Jhamsikhel scene. Moksh mixes jazz nights, singer-songwriter sets, and larger productions. The rooftop is especially good on clear nights.

LOD โ€” Lord of the Drinks (Thamel)

Bigger, louder, and more DJ-focused than the above โ€” LOD hosts both live bands and late-night club nights. A good transition venue if you want live music early and dancing later.

Purple Haze (Thamel)

Intimate, slightly rough around the edges, and perfect for acoustic sets. Locals' favourite.

Taragaon Museum (Boudha)

For more curated, cultural performances โ€” classical sarangi, tabla showcases, and international touring acts. Events are rarer but always worth it.
