Question 1

How do I register a team for a futsal tournament in Kathmandu?

Accepted Answer

Most organisers (MeroFutsal, RONB and the corporate/college leagues) take entries through a Google Form or a WhatsApp/Viber contact number posted with the fixture. Registration usually needs your team name, a captain's number, a squad list of 7–10 players and the entry fee paid up front. Tap any tournament on this page and the listing links straight to the organiser's registration form or contact — most close entries 3–7 days before kickoff, so don't leave it to the last night.

Question 2

Are there open tournaments, or do I need a full team?

Accepted Answer

Both exist. Open-category tournaments in Kathmandu let any assembled squad enter regardless of club — that's where most casual and office teams play. If you don't have a full side, some organisers run individual sign-ups and draft you into a mixed team, and a few venues host weekly pick-up nights. Corporate and college editions are restricted to that company or campus. Each listing states whether it's open, corporate or college so you know before you register.

Question 3

Is there prize money, and what format do these tournaments use?

Accepted Answer

Bigger open and corporate tournaments in Kathmandu carry cash prizes — commonly Rs 50,000 to Rs 200,000+ for the winners, plus a runner-up purse and man-of-the-tournament awards, while smaller community cups offer gear or vouchers. The standard format is 5-a-side or 6-a-side on turf, group-stage league games followed by knockout quarters, semis and a final, with matches of two short halves. Check the individual listing for the exact squad size, entry fee and prize breakdown.

Question 4

Where are most futsal tournaments held in Kathmandu?

Accepted Answer

They run on the covered artificial-turf grounds spread across the valley — futsal centres in Kirtipur, Satdobato, Chabahil, Baneshwor, Sanepa and Bhaisepati are regular hosts. Tournaments are usually played over consecutive weekends or a single long weekend so working teams can take part. The venue and match dates are listed with each tournament below.
