Nepali New Year 2027 in Kathmandu: Events & Things to Do

Nepali New Year marks the first day of Baisakh in the Bikram Sambat calendar — usually 13 or 14 April. Bhaktapur's Bisket Jatra, with its towering chariot pulls and the pole-raising at Yosin Khyo, is the spectacular centrepiece, while Kathmandu marks the day with picnics, concerts and family outings.

Nepali New Year peaks in April, and in 2027 the main day falls on Wednesday, 14 April 2027.
