For event organizers
Event ticketing platforms in Nepal, compared
How to choose
Four questions decide it, in this order:
- What is the all-in cost per ticket? Commission, per-ticket fee and gateway charge, added up, on your actual price. Most platforms quote only one of the three.
- How does your audience pay? In Kathmandu that is Khalti, eSewa and mobile banking. Cards are a minority; a wallet your buyers do not have is a ticket they do not buy.
- Does it bring people, or only process them? A checkout is not marketing. Ask where the platform shows your event to people who were not already looking for it.
- What happens at the door? A scanner that works when the venue wifi dies, and a list that shows who still pays cash.
The platforms
Fees are deliberately not listed for other platforms: they change, differ by deal, and most are not published. Ask each one for the all-in number per ticket. Descriptions are from each platform's own site in September 2026.
TicketSanjal
One of the longest-running ticketing sites in Nepal, by Softshala. Concerts, festivals, comedy, expos; e-tickets with QR check-in and event pages that rank on Google for the event name.
Suits: Large concerts and festivals that want a known checkout brand.
Khalti Events
Ticketing inside the Khalti wallet and app. Buyers pay from their wallet balance or a linked bank; tickets sit in the app. Has its own events listing.
Suits: Events whose audience already pays with Khalti; wallet-native buyers.
eSewa Events
Ticketing through eSewa, Nepal's largest wallet. Buyers pay from eSewa balance or linked banks; distribution to eSewa users.
Suits: Mass-market events where eSewa's reach matters more than the fee.
eTicketNepal
Events plus flights and other bookings. Event listing with e-tickets; many listings on it point to registration elsewhere.
Suits: Organizers who want another listing surface as much as a checkout.
EventMX
Event marketplace with organizer accounts, free event creation and ticketing. Concerts, sports, workshops.
Suits: Smaller organizers who want a self-serve dashboard.
Arkoevent
Host events and sell tickets with eSewa, Khalti and card payments. Self-serve.
Suits: Organizers who want multiple payment rails on one checkout.
Sajilo Ticket
Self-serve ticketing that advertises a flat per-ticket fee rather than a percentage.
Suits: Higher-priced tickets where a flat fee beats a percentage.
TicketChha
Movies, concerts, comedy, theatre and sports in one booking app.
Suits: Shows that sit next to cinema in the buyer's mind — theatre, comedy runs.
Eventbrite
The global default. Free registrations work from Nepal; paid payouts need a supported country.
Suits: Diaspora, conferences and free registrations with an international audience.
Where Kata Jaam fits
Kata Jaam is where Kathmandu looks for things to do — the pages that rank on Google for “events in kathmandu”, and the app people check on Thursday. Ticketing is built into that page, so the checkout sits where the discovery already happens, and the organizer pays nothing.
| Kata Jaam | Typical ticketing platform | |
|---|---|---|
| Commission to the organizer | 0 % | A percentage of each ticket |
| Buyer pays | Khalti, connectIPS / mobile banking, cards; small booking fee | Varies |
| You receive on a NPR 500 ticket | NPR 500 | Less |
| Discovery | Google-ranked event page + the app + push to everyone interested | The platform's listing, if any |
| Free events | Free RSVPs with your own questions, guest list, scanner | Often a fee or nothing at all |
| Door scanner | Free, offline | Varies |
| Reserve now, pay at the door | Yes | Rarely |
| Payout | Within 2 days of the event | Varies |
The honest limits: Kata Jaam is for public events in Nepal that want an audience, and paid checkout runs on Khalti. A private corporate registration, or an audience that only pays by card from abroad, is better served elsewhere. Details: selling tickets on Kata Jaam.
Using both
Plenty of organizers keep the checkout their audience already trusts and list on Kata Jaam for discovery. Add the event with your external ticket link and the page sends buyers there; turn Kata Jaam ticketing on too and the on-page checkout takes over, with the scanner seeing both.
List your event — it takes minutes
Free. Your event gets its own Google-ranked page, a spot in the app, and a way to reach everyone who is interested.
No card, no subscription. Or DM @kata.jaam and we set it up for you.
